Important: Workbooks is a pre-release feature currently in preview. It may change without prior notice and will be rolled out gradually, so access may not yet be available to all users.
Overview
OneIQ Workbooks provide a personal, AI-powered space within OneIQ that enables users to analyze and visualize data from IT Environments, shared Workspaces, or RVTools exports. Powered by generative AI models, Workbooks let users interact with their infrastructure data using natural language prompts—no coding or complex queries required.
This capability allows users to quickly generate charts, tables, and insights for tasks such as infrastructure assessments, capacity and cost planning, and customer-facing reports. Workbooks combine OneIQ’s deep data visibility with AI-driven analysis, helping users turn raw discovery data into meaningful, presentation-ready insights in seconds.
Accessing Workbooks
In the OneIQ navigation panel, select Workbooks.
The Workbooks page lists all existing workbooks and their data sources.
To begin a new analysis, click Create workbook.
Creating a Workbook
Click Create workbook.
Enter a name for the workbook.
Select the currency used for cost-related calculations.
Choose a data source:
IT Environment: Uses data collected by a local Pulse connector.
Workspace: Uses data shared from an existing Workspace.
RVTools: Upload an Excel export file (version 4.6.1 or later). Files must be timestamped within the last 12 months.
Click Confirm to create your workbook.
NB: Workbooks are being rolled out gradually. If you don’t see them in the UI, your account may not yet have access.
Exploring a Workbook
Each workbook provides a dedicated AI workspace for data research. You can:
Click New Chat to start an analysis session.
Use natural language to request summaries, insights, or visualizations.
Review your recent chat history in the left panel.
Example prompts:
“Summarize the clusters.”
“List top 10 virtual machines by CPU utilization.”
“Show hardware age breakdown.”
Generated Insights
The AI assistant automatically produces visual summaries and tables based on your data. Common visualizations include:
OEM Server Vendors: Breakdown of hosts by CPU vendor.
Hardware Age Breakdown: Distribution of servers by age range.
You can further refine results or request new charts directly through chat.
Workspace Integration
When a workbook is sourced from a Workspace, all data is derived from that shared environment.
When a workbook is created from an IT Environment or RVTools file, it remains private to the creator and is not visible to other Workspace members.
Summary
Workbooks extend OneIQ’s Workspace capabilities by enabling personal, AI-assisted data exploration. They are ideal for:
Validation of environmental data.
Preparing reports or visual summaries before collaboration.
Gaining quick insights into infrastructure composition and performance.
