Overview

OneIQ Pulse for Datacenter supports collecting configuration and performance data from Linux hosts. Virtual machines running Linux should be discovered through the underlying platform.

The following Linux versions are supported:

  • CentOS 4 - 8.0

  • Debian 3.1 - 10

  • Fedora 6 - 29

  • Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 - 12

  • openSUSE 10.2 - 42.2

  • Oracle Linux 4.5 - 7.3

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 - 7.3

  • Ubuntu 6.06 - 20.04

OneIQ Pulse supports data collection from native and LVM2 volumes. Btrfs (B-tree file system) is not supported.

Prerequisites

Permissions

  • root or sudo level access

  • Recursive read access to/dev, /etc and /proc folders

Network

  • Port 22 must be open

  • SSH2 connections are supported

  • A network path must exist between target systems and OneIQ Pulse.

During discovery, machines supporting SSH may appear as target systems running Linux. Unless these systems are running a standard release of one of the above operating systems, OneIQ Pulse will not be able to inventory them and should be excluded.

High Availability cluster nodes support

To profile High Availability cluster nodes, add HA-aware Linux nodes using an external IP address, rather than the interface used for cluster communication.

Discover Linux hosts

Open the OneIQ Pulse console and follow the steps below:

  1. In the Select Discovery Target menu, choose Linux Group

  5. Upon successful discovery, a new Linux Group tile will appear in the Dashboard with the following information:

    • Hostname or IP address

    • Username

    • Status

CSV Format

Specify hostnames and IPs, one per line. For example:

192.168.1.63
192.168.1.72
192.168.1.81
host01.domain

What's next?

Use OneIQ Pulse to discover other supported datacenter platforms and collect network flows to identify dependencies.

Cloud-native platforms inside the datacenter can be connected using the following OneIQ Pulse connectors:
